I’m glad you’re here.
I am a Silent Illumination Meditation (mo-chao) practitioner and teacher.
I write for Patheos, I’m a former member of the board of directors for The Tattooed Buddha.
I’ve taught at One Mind Zen Hermitage, The Open Heart Project, and the Rime Center Buddhist Community.
In my day job I’m a union labor activist.
I specialize in bringing meditation practice and Buddhism to people in a practical way that applies to real life. I teach in groups and retreats.
I’m based in Kansas City, Missouri.
I struggled with anxiety throughout my youth and I searched for some kind of inner peace to help me deal with my suffering. I explored a few different spiritual practices and paths until I found Silent Illumination practice.
I have experience teaching Mindfulness Meditation, Silent Illumination practice, Koan Practice, and General Buddhist Studies.
My great passion is to bring meditation practice to people who feel like they aren’t spiritual enough or they don’t fit in in any spiritual communities.
I believe meditation is about learning to be more genuine, seeing the world clearly, and being more fully present in our lives. My goal is to meet people where they are and give them a little guidance and encouragement.
I take a simple and humble approach to sharing meditation and other mind training practices. I share these in public events and in individual coaching.
I do individual mentoring work with students all around the world. If you’re interested, send me a message and we’ll see if we can schedule something.
